* Secure the brackets in the stud hole using the screws. If it is a dry-wall you can screw in the dry-wall plugs without pre-drilling, even though it's recommended. If it is a brick or concrete wall you need to pre-drill and use the brick-wall plugs.
* Use the level to place the second bracket, make sure the distance between 2 brackets isn't longer than the length of your shelf.
* Install the second bracket using a drill and secure it tightly.
* Measure the distance between the 2 brackets carefully so that you know where to drill the holes in your shelf.
* Use a 2'' x 8'' drill bit to drill the bracket holes into your shelf
* Slide the shelf onto the brackets and you will get a beautiful floating shelf.
NOTE: wood shelf should be at least 2 inches thick, and 8½ - 12 inches deep
