The press brake tools of CNC bending machine has a wide application with different requirement. It is widely used in sheet metal bendings, such as automobile, aircraft manufacturing, light industry, shipbuilding, container, elevator, railway vehicles, and other industries.




The CNC bending machine uses a mold (general or special mold) to bend a cold metal sheet into a workpiece of various geometric cross-section shapes. It is a sheet metal forming machine designed for cold rolling sheet metal processing.

So the tools of bending machine need high hardness and accuracy so that it can have a wide range of possible bending materials, apart from that the upper and lower molds must fit well and firmly.


Firstly need to choose the right raw materials of metal. T10,55SICR,42CRMO, and other good steel, producing with forging process, CNC machining, Heat treatment, and accurate grinding.

42CRMO is a normal raw material in this field, "42CRMO" is the mark name in China, and it also called 42CrMo4, SCM440, 4140, 1.7225. Usually, 10-15mm thicker than finished tools, and the knife is 5mm thicker. This working allowance is enough to reach tolerance requirements.

Forging process, repeatedly forging. We called it cold forging or drop hammer forging.


Heat Treatment
quenching + tempering + 860 °C Oil quenching + 390°C Tempering
The role of heat treatment is to improve the mechanical properties of the material, eliminate residual stress and improve the machinability of the metal. Hardness can reach 47- 52+/-2 HRC. Bending edge used high-frequency heat treatment to make sure high rigidity and long tool working life. (The HRC is available by changing the temperature, based on your special needs on that)
